Learn to STEM out.

Raised in a matriarchal household, with constant mentorship from my mother and my sister, I rarely felt constrained by gender roles when pursuing my dreams. My passion for STEM started when I attended my first Girls Learning Code’s workshop. In grade eleven, I noticed minimal female representation in clubs, especially those more academically oriented. So, I initiated Bayview Women in STEM (WIS) to provide girls, in an accessible way, the similar female mentorship I had received. WIS is a club dedicated to offering resources and opportunities, such as coding workshops and an invaluable network of female role models. Ultimately, I intended WIS to become an outlet for girls to explore issues of self-esteem, a lamppost for females to recognize their potential, and a guide on early preparation for careers in STEM.
